Different measurement systems

Ring sizing is typically performed using several different sizing standards based on metric measurements, by deriving the size from the internal circumference or the internal diameter of the ring.

the ISO standard for ring sizes is based on the internal circumference, defining standard ring sizes in terms of the inner circumference of the ring measured in millimetres. For example circumference 50mm is equal to size 50.

the Swiss ring sizing system that takes the metric measurement, sizes are specified as the circumference minus 40 mm. For example, circumference 50mm (ISO size 50) is equivalent to size 10.

the British ring sizing scale is specified using an alphabetical scale. one alphabetical size division equals 1.25mm of circumferential length. Ring size C has a circumference of 40mm as a baseline. For example, circumference 50mm is equal to size K. ((50-40)/1.25 = 8)

the German sizing scale is based on the internal diameter. For example diameter 16.1 mm is equal to size 16.

the American ring sizing system that uses a numerical scale with ¹⁄₄ steps, where whole sizes differ by 0.81 mm of internal diameter, equivalent to 2.55 mm of internal circumference.

Asian scales. In India, Japan and China, ring sizes are specified using a numerical scale with whole sizes that does not have a linear correlation with diameter or circumference.

Measuring size

It is our strong advice that you visit a local professional jeweller to establish an accurate size. Sometimes, online sizing methods may be unreliable and resizing might not be possible depending on your ring design.

We are usually measured in the British sizing scale for Australia ring size. You can also use the international ring Size Conversion chart above as a guide to convert your international size.

Otherwise, you also can find a right size at home. To determine your size at home, we strongly advise that you measure the size of your finger rather than the size of your ring.

How to measure your ring size

Step1: Measure your finger by wrapping a strip of paper or string around the base of your finger, leaving enough space to slide the ring over your knuckle. To ensure the ring fits comfortably, we suggest measuring your knuckle as well.

Step2: With a pen, mark the point on the string where the paper strip meets and measure the length in millimeters by using a ruler.

Step3: This is the circumference of your finger. Choose the closest measurement to the chart above to identify your ring size. If you fall in between sizes, we recommend that you chose the larger size.

This method can be used to find the ring size of any of your fingers.

No matter which measurement method you choose, we recommend that you choose a ring size that is easy to wear and take off.

Please note that the ring size can vary depending on the ring design and fit on your finger.

Ring Sizing Tips

– Finger size may vary depending on the time of day and weather. To get the most accurate measurement, We recommend that you measure your finger across multiple times of day, and on multiple different days to compare. Avoid any measurement in unusually hot or cold weather. Cold weather can cause your fingers to shrink a bit, while heat or water retention caused by food or medications, can cause finger swelling.

– Remember that the two hands differ slightly in size; a ring worn on a finger of the left hand will not be a perfect fit for the same finger on the right hand. The fingers on your dominant hand tend to be larger than those on your non-dominant hand, so keep that in mind when measuring for your ring size.

– Please note that the style of the ring will also affect the choice of size. a large ring is made to be worn more loosely than a smaller model.

Here are a couple of tips on choosing ring size based on the ring’s design/style.

Keep in mind that broad/thicker ring bands (eg. cocktail rings) will fit tighter, so that you will probably need a slightly bigger size is if the ring is wide. It is better to choose half a size up when purchasing a thicker band, for the ring to be comfortable.

When you buy a sleek and slim ring (eg. stack rings) ensure a comfortable fit by picking a snug-fitting ring size. We recommend that you opt for a lightly smaller size eg. 0,5 size difference.

Jewellery care tips

Our pieces at vvren are from different artisans, which are intended to become in one with the wearer as they grow in character together.

These works are designed to age with grace and carry not only our makers marks but the marks and scars that represent you as a person and the way you live.

Over time with frequent wear, your jewellery will age and the oxidation will fade. Take on a patina which some people love, as it gives a unique character to each piece.

However if that is not what you expected, it also can be delayed by following a few simple tips of care and attention.

Jewellery Maintenance & Care Guide

Protecting your jewellery from water, saltwater, humidity, steam , chemicals, alcohol & extreme changes of temperature.

Avoid any contact with cosmetic or household products, since the ingredients contained could discolour your jewellery.

Never go swimming wearing your jewellery, as chlorine in swimming pools can cause damage to all metals and will completely remove the oxidation from your piece. While salt water can dull diamonds and erode soldered parts in metal jewellery.

Consider removing your jewellery while cleaning, gardening, performing sports activities or applying lotion, moisturiser or perfume.

Store your jewellery in an individual case, and chains should be closed and laid flat to avoid scratching and tangling. If you’re still having trouble with tangles, using straws or other tubing may help you out.

Jewellery Clean Tips

Cleaning your precious silver or gold jewellery with toothpaste or baking soda paste is not a good idea. These methods are abrasive and will remove tiny amounts of metal every time you do it and over time it will damage and deplete your precious jewellery.

In particular jewellery which is gold vermeil, gold filled or plated should never be cleaned in this way or it will be damaged.

Generally, you can wash your jewellery with warm water and a gentle colourless, fragrance free and harsh chemicals free soap. Use a cloth or very soft brush to help get grime out of crevices. Jewels with leather parts can be cleaned with a soft cloth. Shine can be restored to your jewellery by using polishing cloth.

But also take care when using a polishing cloth, brush or anything else which is rubbed against the metal, particularly if your jewellery has a more delicate finish, such as gold plating, blackening or a patina.

Plated piece and oxidized silver pieces have undergone a special surface treatment and thus must be handled differently. Never use any abrasive methods and any metal cleaning agents to clean these pieces (including jewelry cloths), as these will remove the surface treatment all together.

The best way to treat these pieces is to rub them gently with a soft cloth lengthwise in one direction. If they remain dull or have residue on them, you can first soak them in warm soapy water and gently go over the area with your fingers and then pat dry with soft cloth gently and thoroughly.

The Bronze component though would organically oxidise over time especially if not worn, this oxidisation can be harnessed for it’s own beauty. While simply by using polishing cloth with a standard metal polish will restore the gold shine.

Most of our artisans are willing to help bring back to the piece original look by re-doing the surface treatment process. If a complete restoration is desired, please contact us to discuss cost and options here.

shipping & return policy

Shipping Policy

Standard postage rates apply to all items and are automatically calculated at the checkout.

Items will be dispatched within 3 business days after the order is fulfilled and payment received. Orders placed on weekends or public holidays will be processed and packaged the following business day. Delivery time might be various according to the different destination and carriers.

It usually takes 5-7 working days for postage within Australia and 1-2 weeks for international orders.

Please note that Australia Post is currently experiencing delays with delivery to some countries.

We cannot be held responsible once the parcel leaves our care. If you prefer your shipment is insured, please contact us and this can be arranged however for an additional charge.

Additional Shipping Info

Any customs or import duties are charged once the parcel reaches its destination country. The responsibility for any custom duties, foreign taxes or other fees which may be imposed will rest with the recipient of the parcel.

Unfortunately, we cannot be held responsible over these charges, and cannot tell you what the cost would be, as customs policies and import duties vary widely from country to country. Please contact your local customs offices if you would like to seek more information regarding taxes and duties.

Some international orders may be held up in customs, please note we have no control in this situation.

The customer takes full liability for all postal charges, return shipment costs, customs charges and handling fees should they refuse to accept a parcel due to import duties or taxes.

Please note – we cannot undervalue orders.

Please make allowances for some delays due to COVID.

We cannot be held responsible for any missing articles/damaged parcels or lost parcels once your shipment has been made with Australia Post.

If your parcel does not arrive in the designated time frame, please contact Australia Post with your order number and tracking number. To allow Australia Post to investigate any packaging and/or article must be presented at your local postal outlet as soon as possible for inspection. A damage/missing content assessment report will be completed by the Postal Manager after they assess the article, making any recommendations for consideration of compensation. The Postal Service in your country will then liaise directly with Australia Post to complete a full investigation.

RETURNS & EXCHANGES

We hope you’re happy with every work that you collect from VVREN, so if you simply require a different size, please email us with your preferred size and we will do our best to accommodate you. In the case that you change your mind or make a wrong selection, we are happy to offer an exchange or provide a store credit. Please note if you would like to exchange an item you’ve purchase, please notice us via email info@vvren.com.au within 24 hours upon receipt of your purchase, only confirmed items could be returned or exchanged.

Please note that exchange and return are not possible if you have ordered a custom or personalised item, so please contact us first if you are unsure. Any of our artist’s products are one of kind handmade pieces which cannot be replicated so if you have any concerns about sizing, shape, colour etc, don’t be afraid to ask us for more details.

To be able to exchange or return a product, please be sure all items are returned to us within 7 days of receiving them with the original receipt enclosed. All international returned items must be received within 14 days of the customer receiving the delivery. Please also provide a valid proof of purchase (including original receipt, e-receipt, account history, order number or any other relevant information).

Upon inspection of the returned item, we will gladly issue an online store credit. Please note that this will not include the cost of the original postage and packaging. Return items that appear to have been damaged, used, worn, altered, or are not in original condition will not be accepted, and will be returned to the customer at their own expense.

Terms and Guidelines

All Items must be in original, resalable condition—— unused, unworn, unwashed, complete with original tags and/or packaging if applicable.

We are not responsible for the return or exchange shipping costs of the items.

We recommend that all returned items are well packaged, so as not to be damaged in the post. And all return packages are sent with a trackable, insured service. We cannot take responsibility for any damage or lost incurred in the return transit.

If returned an item from outside Australia, please clearly mark the package ‘RETURNED GOODS’. VVREN is NOT responsible for any return custom charges made.

Please be sure to select your items carefully, as we cannot offer refunds for any online purchases unless the item was in faulty condition.

We are careful to quality check all of our items to ensure they are in good condition before we send them. However if you receive a faulty or damaged product, please notify us straight away. If your item is found to be faulty, you will be offered a refund or exchange including shipping costs.

Unfortunately, VVREN does not offer refunds for any instore purchases, so please be sure to choose your items carefully.

Our prices are based in Australian Dollars (AUD). Prices can be modified at any moment due to market price fluctuations or any other reason beyond our control. We offer a currency converter as part of our website. These conversions are based on the exchange rate at time of purchase, and payment transactions will be made in your preferred choice of currency.

Your order will be cancelled in circumstance when the card transaction is rejected. Please contact your bank or card provider for further information.

We hope you’re happy with every work that you collect from VVREN, so if you change you mind, all of the in-stock pieces could be cancelled within 24 hours upon your order made. Unfortunately, cancelled orders will incur a $30 AUD administration fee.

We have made every effort to accurately show the details and colours of the products that appear on the online store. Please note as computer monitors vary, we cannot guarantee that your monitor’s display of any colour will be completely accurate.

Every piece of jewellery at VVREN is from different artisans is entirely handcrafted, making each item slightly individual in finish and shape which may vary slightly from the store imagery. Images are a guide only.

VVREN cannot be hold responsible for small discrepancies or differences from the images due to the hand made nature. Any irregularities in the texture and in the color hue of the pieces, oxidization of the items resulting from particular process of making, as well as any other traces resulting from artisans’ handcrafting of the products are intended and must not be considered as a flaw.

Delivery dates are only indicative. Made-to-order will only be definitive once confirmed. Unfortunately, the order cannot be cancelled or changed by you once paid. Please allow approximately 10-20 business days for all made-to-order items before dispatch, the lead time may be various, depending on the artisan’s present production time.

Please note all made-to-order items are non-refundable and non-returnable once purchased, except unused damaged items. Please notify us straight away via info@vvren.com.au once you received a faulty product, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Please note all delivery charges are non-refundable. VVREN is not responsible for any late deliveries, for any lost or damages that could be incurred whilst in transit, or for any possible duties and taxes which may be applied by customs in the country where delivery is made.
